Midrash

One of the ads in the banner at the moment is promoting a Torah commentary site. The linked page takes the user to a section where one may review certain Midrash and rabbinic commentaries, which makes this a sort of on-line Talmud. I've always been interested in Judaism, and am grateful to have been led to this site. The Midrash are really fascinating stories which “fill in the gaps” of Old Testament stories. There are some so-called apocraphal writings about the childhood of Jesus which serve much the same function for xtians.

This past Sunday, the preacher repeated this joke: “Whereever there are two Jews, there will be three opinions.” Recent events in Minneapolis (sorry, link may require registration) seem to confirm my belief the Episcopalians are not far from their Jewish roots.

Of course, that joke really reflects a truism about human nature.
